Long Live Iraq....Unity for Iraq....Long Live the Shabak !!!
Kurdish Parties Suspected Behind Attacks on Christians
Mosul
The following article from www.gulfnews.com is even more evidence which proves that the Kurdish political parties in Mosul and the Ninevah plain have a strategy to try to anex and Kurdify the region to Kurdistan Iraq and are willing to do almost anything against the Christians , Shabak people or other minorities to reach their aim.
Kurdish involvement is suspected in the recent wave of violence against Christians in Mosul, Gulf News has learnt.
"Investigations have been completed and proved the involvement of Kurdish militias in the displacement and killing of Christians," Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki reportedly said during a discussion with Iraqi lawmakers, according to Osama Al Nojaifi, a deputy in the Iraqi parliament.
Al Nojaifi said Al Maliki had ordered Kurdish units in the Iraqi army out of Mosul but was reluctant to officially announce details of the investigations for fear they would destabilise his government.
There is mounting pressure on Al Maliki from the Vatican and some Western countries to hold the perpetrators accountable for the killings, according to sources.
"There are strong doubts about the involvement of Kurdish militia in the killings of Christians in Mosul and we have information that 7-10 Kurdish officers were arrested for alleged involvement in these operations.
"We ask Al Maliki to expose these militias and the political parties who stand behind them," said Lewis Marcos, a prominent Christian member of the municipal council of the Hamdania district in Nineveh province.
The Christian clergy in Iraq remained determined to bring out details of those behind the violence despite fears that its insistence could cause a rift in Iraq, said Louis Sako, archbishop of Kirkuk.
The commander of Kurdish forces in Mosul, Lieutenant General Riyadh Jalal Tawfiq, however, rebuffed the charges. "I haven't heard of such accusations, but it is not true. Kurds have nothing to do with the violence against Christians."
Massoud Barzani, leader of the Kurdistan region, also rejected the accusations.
Times Newspaper Interviews The Shabak
Bartellah

Mr. Qusay Abbas head of the Shabak Democratic Assembly in Mosul met with Times Newspaper (London) reporter to talk about the Shabak people , their traditions, identity and the crisis which they and other minorities are facing in the Ninevah plain.
Mr. Qusay emphasised that thousands of shabak and other minorities including the christians have been displaced from Mosul city due to the unsecure situation in Mosul where terrorist roam freely in the city. This resulted in hundreds of Shabak being killed , dozens of houses and shops from the Shabak community destroyed.
The other problem is that from the other side political parties are trying to Kudify the region so it can be anexed to Kurdistan Iraq.
These two fronts from the terrorists side and also the Kurdish political parties from the other side have dramatically affected the Shabak and all other minorities in the region.
Dr. Al-Qaddo On Al-Furat Channel
Hardtalk

Dr. Al-Qaddo Shabak representative in the Iraqi parliament , Mr. Salam Nasir Mendaey representative from Basrah and Mr. Saeed Shama head of Chaldean Democratic Forum participated on 25.10.2008 in a program under the name "Minorities under the Iraqi Constitution and Article 50 regarding the provincial council elections" on Al-Furat sattelite channel.
The presenter of the program, asked the following question to Dr. Al-Qaddo "What happened in Article 50 and give us information about the Shabak people and how they were never heard of in the old regime, and are they an ethnic minority group?".
Dr. Al-Qaddo replied that the Shabak are an ethnic minority consisting ((70% of them Muslim Shiite and 30% Sunni who lived with other minorities and other components of Iraq in the Ninevah plain for centuries)).
In the Saddam era the Shabak were subjected to persecution and Arabization, dozens were executed for having links or being members of the Islamic Dawa Party.
The Shabak are clearly recognised by the old Ottoman government and have clearly mentioned the Shabak in their writtings, also many books which exist at the University of Mosul, indicate that the Shabak are an ethnic minority present in the Nineveh plain who have lived their for centuries.
Registration forms from the Ministry of Displacement and Migration indicated that 80% of the Shabak people registered Shabak and not Arab or Kudish.
The Shabak are being targeted by terrorist groups in Mosul city, hundreds have been killed, many have had their houses destroyed and already five thousand families have been displaced from Mosul city and were forced to return to their original villages surrounding Mosul city.
At the moment the Shabak are under threat from political parties trying to Kurdify the Ninevah plain and anexing the plain and west side of Mosul city to Kurdistan Iraq.
These violations on the Shabak and other minorities in the area has resulted in that these political parties are not willing to offer a political seat for the Shabak in the provincial elections, as the Shabak people and most other minorities dont want to be anexed to Kurdistan Iraq.

The Shabak and the Provincial Elections
London
Maybe most Iraqis dont know alot about the Shabak people and have never heard of them, only after the fall of the Bathist regime which ruled Iraq for 35 years , and which had no free voiced media. Also the regime tried to Arabify the Shabak and displaced them to other regions killing many for not accepting the regimes ways.
These things made the Iraqi people unaware of an ethnic group that was called the "SHABAK" and who had lived in the Ninevah plain for centuries.
A seminar was held by the Muslim Youth Association in London on Saturday, 11 October 2008, which talked about how the Shabak were undermined by the Baathist regime and are now also being undermined by some political parties and especially the rights of ethnic minorities in the upcoming provincial and district elections in Iraq.

Iraqi PM KIlled From The Sadr Movement
Martyr

The chairman and members of the Shabak Democratic rally strongly condemn the criminal act by the enemies of humanity for the assassination of a member of the House of Representatives from the Sadrist Movement Dr. Saleh Al-Aekeely. Our deepest condolences go to his family and his beloved friends in the Sadr Movement. We also call upon the security authorities to disclose the perpetrators and bring them to trial.
Shabak AND CHRISTIANS Prime Targets IN MOsul City
Displaced
In the last few weeks the terrorist groups have began an intensive campaign of incitements to kill the Shabak and Christian brothers in the city of Mosul. During the past few days they have killed 4 Shabak children and dozens of Christians and blown 3 houses in Hay Al-Sukr. Almost 1000 Christians have been displaced and thousands of Shabak have long left Mosul City returning to their villages.
We as representatives of the Shabak people and members of the Iraqi minorities hold local government and the leadership of Nineveh full responsibility for its inability to protect the minorities in Mosul, in general, and also hold the responsibility for the deaths of these innocent people. We also hold the Kurdish political parties responsibility that claim to annex the Nineveh plain area to Kurdistan region without thinking of the safety of the people.

Shabak Democratic Assembly
Statement
The cancellation of reserved seats for Iraqi minorities in the provincial elections by the Kurdish Alliance Party is a hostile reaction which is a sign that the Kurdish Alliance Party is undermining all Iraqi Minorities, forgetting that the Kurdish Alliance had once suffered the injustice of the former regime. Are now today oppressing and Kurdifying the majority of Iraqi Minorities, especially the Shabak and Yezeedien.
We would like to point out the courageous attitude of Mr. Hadi al-Amiri, a member of the Supreme Islamic Council, who defended the rights of the Shabak and all other Iraqi minorities.

Guardian Corresponder "MOSUL THE MOST DANGEROUS CITY IN THE WORLD"
Report

Guardian newspaper corresponder Jonathan Steele was in Mosul city on 15/9/2008 and wrote an article in the Guardian newspaper about Mosul City and the security situation and also about the Kurds. Here is what was written in the article:-
"It is the most dangerous city in the world's most dangerous country, a sad, half-empty relic whose rich and middle classes have long since fled. To reach it, one has to travel incognito in convoys of rundown small cars whose drivers conceal their walkie-talkies and weapons under the seats. Their bodyguards sometimes switch to dented taxis with shattered windshields as an extra disguise.
Mosul - the de facto capital of northern Iraq - should have been as safe as Basra and Baghdad if a massive military offensive by Iraqi and US forces, which was launched in May, had succeeded. But most al-Qaida insurgents slipped away before it began - and they are now slipping back. "They use car bombs and roadside bombs, and target areas which used to be very safe. Now they are assassinating people with pistols that have silencers. The offensive was not as successful as expected," said Doraid Kashmoula, the provincial governor.
In June, the Americans trumpeted the killing of Abu Khalaf, who they described as al-Qaida's local kingpin, and the "emir of Mosul". "Killing this man didn't help. When the security forces kill one emir, they have 10 others to replace him," the governor added.
Mosul's offensive, known as Operation Mother of Two Springs, began well, cutting insurgent attacks by 80% in the first few days. It didn't last. In the past month, dozens of people have been killed in violence ranging from roadside bombs to random shootings, car bombs and attacks targeted at specific individuals. On Saturday, four employees of a Dubai-based television station, including the head of its office in Mosul, were abducted and killed.
But if the statistics only tell half the story, the other half is apparent from the city centre, a virtual ghost town.
"For eight months I've not seen my parents, because their neighbourhood is in part of the city centre that is too dangerous," said Yahya Abed Mahjoub, an official of the Islamic party which represents urban Sunni businessmen and professionals.
That contrasts with Basra, where security is better than at any time since 2005, and Baghdad where, for the first time in three years, sunset brings families to parks along the Tigris as the 44C heat slowly subsides.
In Mosul, the same river flows by, unwatched. On the east bank where cafes and restaurants once thrived, hardly a pedestrian or a car can be seen. People flee three hours before the 10pm curfew. By day, traffic is light and the Iraqis buying fruit at roadside stalls look anxious and under pressure.
Al-Qaida's strength in Mosul has risen on the see-saw which has made it weak in Anbar, Iraq's largest Sunni province. Driven out of there, al-Qaida moved many supporters to Diyala, north of Baghdad, and to Mosul. Some Iraqi officials, including Mosul's governor, blame logistics, in particular al-Qaida's easy access from Mosul to northern Syria to bring in weaponry. He says Operation Mother of Two Springs needs "more equipment, troops, and weapons to counter them".
Al-Qaida also benefits from the absence in Mosul of al-Sahwa, the so-called Awakening movement of Sunni tribal leaders, who successfully confronted al-Qaida in Anbar and western suburbs of Baghdad. They oppose al-Qaida's targeting of Shias and the importing of a conservative Salafi ideology which was never strong in Iraq.
Al-Qaida is also exploiting one of the central struggles in Mosul, a tussle for influence between Arabs and Kurds, claiming to be at the forefront of resistance to what many Arabs say are Kurdish efforts to take over the city.
Mahjoub's Islamic party is targeted for "collaborating" with the government in Baghdad, but also with the Kurds on the provincial council. "Six of our party's leaders here have been assassinated since the May offensive started," Mahjoub said. The Communist party, whose Arab support comes from the secular middle-class, has gone virtually underground in Mosul after several leaders were killed."

Mosuls Security Problem
TV Talk

In an important TV discussion on Beelady Sattelite Channel about the deteriorating security situation facing Mosul city. Dr. Hunain Al-Qaddo Secretray General of the Democrartic Shabak Assembly and Major Mohammeed AL-Askari were interviewed.
Dr. Al-Qaddo talked about the political tension and Kurdish peshmerga forces which have brought Mosul into this dreadful state, giving way for terrorists to take advantage of this situation. He also noted that Mosul and Ninewah province should be ruled by its own people and that Mosul Awakening Council should be setup. Noting that it is very important that the Kurdish peshmerga forces go back to their green line (36) before 4/9/2003.
Major Mohammed Al-Askari agreed on all the points which Dr. Al-Qaddo stated and urged the central government to send neutral forces to Mosul city to once again bring peace to this wonderful city.

Dr. AL-Qaddo Calls ON the Central Government to Protect the Shabak
Baghdad
Dr. AL-Qaddo Secretary General of The Shabak Democratic Assembly and Member of the
Iraqi Parliament called on the Iraqi Government to take serious actions against the ongoing killings of the Shabak people in Mosul and pointing out that the Ninevah Operations Command Center are fully responsible for the genocide facing the Shabak people in Mosul, especially as in the last few weeks the number of incidents has drastically increased.
On the other hand spokesman for Ninevah Operations Command Center, Brigadier Khalid Abdulsattar stated that we offer protection to all people in Mosul city including the Shabak, and that the security situation has improved. This totally contradicts the instable security situation in Mosul, as the Shabak are the most targeted ethnic group between all other ethnic groups in Mosul.
We would like to mention that on Saturday 13/9/2008 in Mosul Zeenjeely area, 4 people from AL-Sharqia filming tv crew were kidnapped and killed, although the Zeenjeely area had a high presence of guards, policemen and Iraqi soldiers.
The Shabak Genocide Continues
Mosul
Once again terrorists attack Shabak families in Mosul in an ever ongoing genocide. On Saturday morning 13/9/2008 terrorists entered the home of Mahmoud Jemaa Hassan in Hay-Albaker, they killed him and his wife Khadeeja Abdullah Ghareeb.
We wish to point out that the statements from the Ninevah Governate and the head of officials from "Ninewah Operations" that the security situation in Mosul has improved is an imaginary comment.
Shabak Family Slaughtered
Mosul
The Shabak people and their families have been facing a genocide in Mosul city the past few years with an ever increasing number of terrorists roaming the streets and targeting our Shabak fellows. Sadly the central government and especially Mosul governate have not taken any real action in preventing the killings or bringing true stability into the area.
On Thursday 11/9/2008 at exactly 10:00 am a group of terrorists entered with force the home of Nasir Ibrahim and his family. The terrorists killed and decapicated the whole family consisting of Nasir Ibrahim , his wife Kameela Hashim Halbus and his son Jamal Nasir Ibrahim.
We condemn these cowardly acts and once again point the blame to the Mosul governate, for not providing any security in the Mosul area for the Shabak people.
Shabak Press Freedom Day
Celebration

The Shabak people celebrate on 15th September every year "Shabak Press Freedom Day". In the past the Shabak were undermined by Saddams era and had no voice to be heard in the Iraqi community. After the fall of Saddam, the Shabak published the first Shabak newspaper "AL-Yakeen" which concentrates on the Shabak activities, its problems and that our voices are heard overall in Iraq, as we Iraqis are a part of Iraq.
The "Al-Yakeen" newspaper will be 4 years old and we hope that all our Shabak brothers and sisters will participate in writting articles and widening the scope of our Shabak press to be published hopefully everywhere.

Mosul

In an ever deteriorating security situation in Mosul, a weekly increase of Shabak people being assasinated and also Shabak homes and property blown up. Most of these terrorists are freely roaming in Mosul and the provincial police and security forces stand only by to look.
- -On 26/8/2008 terrorists blew up the homes of the following Shabak people Salman Kata, Mahmud Kata and Najaf Kata in East Mosul.
- -On 26/8/2008 the evil terrorists blew up the home of Mullah Hamza in Northern Garage district in Mosul.
